Willard A. Eaton

Willard "Steve" A. Eaton, 85, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at his home.

Born in Pitcher, NY on November 6, 1923, Mr. Eaton was a son of the late Howard and Ruth Ann Gilliland Eaton. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. He retired from Contel (Frontier) in Norwich in 1983. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country during WWII. He was a life member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department, member of the Knickerbocker Post #596 American Legion, Cincinnatus, and a member of the Lion's Club. On March 20, 1954, he married Dorys Lockwood, who predeceased him in 2006.

He is survived by his son, Denny (Vanessa) Eaton of Poplar Grove, IL; a granddaughter, Brandy (Patrick) Garibay of Poplar Grove, IL; and great-grandchildren, Christopher, Alexys, Ava, and Kaden, all of Poplar Grove, IL. He also leaves behind a brother, Paul (Patricia) Eaton of Esperance, NY; sisters, Florence Livermore of Pitcher and Irene Gorzynski of New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Ann Sharpe of Phoenix, AZ; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his wife, Dorys Eaton, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond and Leslie Eaton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 19, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Union Valley Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad for all the help they provided and have requested that expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Eaton be directed to the squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
