William J. Ayers

June 16, 2005 — May 15, 2025

McDonough, NY

William J. Ayers, 19, of McDonough, NY, affectionately known as Billy, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 15, 2025, while surrounded by his family.

Billy was born in Syracuse, NY on June 16, 2005, the son of William D. and Casey Lynn Weir Ayers. A light that shone brightly during his short time with us, Billy blended a zest for life with a warm, gentle spirit that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy attended Cincinnatus Central School and was well-loved by his peers. Before his illness indicated a change in his path, he worked at Shenanigans in McDonough as a cook and dishwasher. Billy had a passion for hunting and fishing, activities he relished as moments to bond with family and friends.

A beloved son, brother, and friend, Billy is survived by his parents, William and Casey Ayers of McDonough. He valued the close-knit relationships he formed with his siblings: Brittany (Logan Roy) Ayers of Richford, Hailey (Brian Mcalister) Ayers, Zachary Ayers, Brayden Ayers, and Kaydence (Kyle Brown) Ayers, all living in McDonough. His family also includes his cherished niece, Isabella Mcalister, and the love and support from his maternal grandfather, Larry (Rose) Platt of Georgia, and his paternal grandparents, Willard and Cheryl Ayers of Cortland; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Billy’s friendships were a cornerstone of his life, and he forged deep bonds with his best friends Mason Bell, Caleb Baker, Ace Eckert and Dom Scutt. Together, they shared laughter and adventures, creating memories that will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Lisa Weir, and maternal great-grandmother, Violet Platt, both of whose spirits continued to shine through Billy. Although their physical presence was absent in Billy's life, their love and guidance watched over him quietly in his journey.

Billy's visitation will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at K. L. Sharp Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Brown officiating.

His departure leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew him, yet the memories of his laughter, adventurous spirit, and loving heart will forever be cherished. As we remember Billy, let us carry forward the lessons of love, camaraderie, and joy he imparted so effortlessly, serving as a reminder to appreciate every moment life has to offer.
