William F. Greene

William F. Greene, 90, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the NYS Veteran’s Home in Oxford, NY.

Born in Cortland, NY, on December 3, 1932, Bill was the son of the late Clark Ellsworth and Vivian Syble Barber Greene.  A longtime resident of this area, he was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus.  Bill was very active in the community.  He owned and operated Greene’s Garage and Bill’s TV for several years.  He was a life member of the Cincinnatus Fire Department and one of the founding members of the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, and had previously served as the Cincinnatus Fire Commissioner.  He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member and past treasurer of the Knickerbocker American Legion Post #596.  He was also a member of the Lion’s Club and Rotary.  In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf at the Knickerbocker Country Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Randy) Weatherby of Homer; and his granddaughter, Theodora (Jon Bogia) Greene Weatherby of Philadelphia, PA.  He also leaves behind his siblings, Mary (Wayne) Young and Robert Churchill, all of Florida, and Connie Fortier of California; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Greene, on June 8, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor George Carruth officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in Cincinnatus Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at 1:00 p.m.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bill may be made to the Cincinnatus Fire Department, P.O.
